This summer, Soenika Gorrepati and Mr. Robbie Hoyler travelled to India to start the very first South Indian FIRST Tech Challenge teams, train PREPARE's teachers, and start a few FIRST LEGO League teams as well. They conducted a week long teacher training session at ZPHS Movva where experienced and newly hired PREPARE STEM teachers learned how to best teach the specially designed curriculum. Teachers were tasked to program a LEGO EV3 robot to complete a maze with obstacles and come up with sample lesson plans about general computer education. The following week, they went to Balaji Vidyalayam in Machilipatnam and taught the teachers and soon to be robotics coaches how to register and manage a competitive robotics team for the upcoming season. In July, Mr. Robbie Hoyler, a mechanical engineer and a robotics coach from America, went to Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan. He hosted a seminar about robotics and conducted orientation for two FLL teams and one FTC team. The trip was a success. PREPARE hopes to continue this momentum and start several robotics teams in the following years.
